Hey guys! Your girl is back again except this time we are going to talk about dramas. (FYI the order has nothing to do with ranking.) Drama: Boys over Flowers Genre: Teen, Romance, School Plot: Set at a famous high school for the super-wealthy, this is a puppy love story centered on a poor girl and the F4 gang of rich kids headed by the rough and fearless Jun-pyo Koo. Geum Jan-Di (Hye-seon Ku) is a girl from a poor family but has an unrivaled sense of optimism and drive and is by chance admitted to a prestigious private high school. There she meets the infamous group of four astonishingly good looking and rich boys who are known as F4. The group’s leader is Koo Jun-Pyo (Min-ho Lee), who is a spoiled heir to world-leading conglomerate Shinhwa. He is joined by mysterious and breathlessly handsome Yun Ji-Hu (Hyeon-jung Kim), So Lee-Jeong (Kim Beom), and Song Woo-Bin (Kim Jun). Their love story moves from Seoul to New Caledonia to Macau. It had a TON of laughing scenes and was able to show the true struggles of being in a rich to poor relationship. Although, I did hate his Koo Jun-Pyo’s mother and his attitude towards the end (even though he did it in order to help her). TOTALLY RECOMMEND THIS TO ANY NEWBIE TO KDRAMA. Drama: Cheese in the Trap Genre: Teen, Romance Plot: Drama depicts the delicate relationship between female university student Hong Seol (Kim Go-Eun) and her senior Yoo Jung (Park Hae-Jin). Hong-Seol works part-time due to her family’s poor background. Yoo Jung is good looking, gets good grades, athletic and has a kind personality, but he has a dark side. Source: http://asianwiki.com/Cheese_in_the_Trap Thoughts: Okay this drama was complicated but, you still need to watch it in order to understand what Im saying. Personally, I thought that the ending to this drama was awful and sorta wanted more from it. Although, in the middle of the drama I remember there were some issues between the webtoon artist and the producer for the show… so I guess thats why the drama ended the way it did… but dont take my word for it. lol Dispite that I think the drama was good and I think Lee Sung-Kyung did an amazing job in acting as Baek In- Ha. Drama: Coffee Prince Genre: Romance, Drama, Comedy Plot: Coffee Prince’s Flagship Store is a TV series that revolves around the love life and dreams of four young people who meet together at a cafe. Han-gyeol (Gong Yoo) is a smart young man who hates to be tied down to one career in his life. Abhorring the idea of joining the family business, he is ordered by his grandmother to manage a cafe. Unable to disobey his grandmother, he reluctantly takes over the responsibility of running a cafe and begins to immerse himself in the gourmet coffee business. One day, he meets Eun-chan, a cheerful girl who has an unpredictable personality, and learns the meaning of true love.. Source: http://asianwiki.com/Coffee_Prince Thoughts: (the first drama I watched coming into kdrama) ALL TIME FAVORITE!!!!! This drama was a cute innocent love that has a funny plot twist in the middle. Honestly, Gong Yoo and Yoon Eun- Hye make a cute couple and they show it throughout the episodes. Furthermore, the ending to this show is so cute and honeslty I sort of wish they made a season 2 so we could see what their future will bring. THIS WOULD TOTALLY BE THE BEST DRAMA FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE COMING INTO KDRAMA!!!!~~ Drama: The Heirs Genre: Romance, Teen, School Plot: “The Heirs” depicts the friendships, rivalries and love lives of young, rich heirs led by Kim Tan (Lee Min-Ho) and a girl named Cha Eun-Sang (Park Shin-Hye). Unlike the others, Cha Eun-Sang is considered ordinary and comes from a poor background. 18-year-old Cha Eun-Sang lives with her mother who is mute. Her mother works as a housekeeper and Eun-Sang also works part-time jobs to help out. One day, Eun-Sang’s older sister (Yoon Jin-Seo) calls from the U.S. and informs them that she will marry. Eun-Sang’s mother then asks Eun-Sang to send her older sister some money from her savings account. Eun-Sang isn’t happy with her situation and decides to go to the U.S. herself to see if she can start a better life with her sister. When Eun-Sang arrives in California she is in for a shock. Her older sister lives in a filthy home with a deadbeat boyfriend who seems violent. Her sister is also not getting married or going to school and works full-time as a waitress. When Eun-Sang finally tracks down her sister working at a beach front restaurant, she takes the money Eun-Sang brought for her wedding and leaves without even saying goodbye. Eun-Sang’s dreams of starting a better life in America quickly vanishes and she crumbles to the ground in tears. Meanwhile, Kim Tan is not your typical high school student, but a handsome and wealthy Korean heir to a large conglomeration. He is sitting out on the patio of the beach front restaurant, watching everything unfold between Eun-Sang and her sister. Kim Tan’s American friend then sees a ziplock bag with a powdery substance fall out of Eun-Sang’s suitcase and runs over to scoop it up. Kim Tan knows immediately that the ziplock bag doesn’t contain drugs, but rather powder grain to make traditional Korean drinks. Soon, Eun-Sang runs off after Kim Tan’s friend and Kim Tan goes to help Eun-Sang. When the dust is settled, Eun-Sang walks out of a police station and her passport is temporarily confiscated. With nowhere to go for Eun-Sang, Kim Tan offers to let her stay at his home. Although they seem to come from different worlds, they quickly develop a rapport for each other. But, when Kim Tan is at school, Eun-Sang meets a girl named Rachel (Kim Ji-Won). Rachel informs Eun-Sang that she is Kim Tan’s fiance and she demands that Eun-Sang leaves his home immediately. Eventually, Eun-Sang returns to South Korea. Kim Tan now feels nothing but emptiness after Eun-Sang’s departure. He decides to go back to Korea even though his older stepbrother Won (Choi Jin-Hyuk) strongly opposes his return. When Kim Tan gets back to his luxurious mansion like home, he sees someone briefly that resembles Eun-Sang. Kim Tan goes to his mother Ki-Ae (Kim Sung-Ryoung) and asks about the unfamiliar, but familiar girl that he briefly saw. His mother tells him that the girl is their housekeeper’s daughter and her name is Cha Eun-Sang. She’s also staying in their home. Listen I know this drama has a lot of episodes but, you have to fight through it because the ending is totally worth it~~! Drama: Marriage Contract Genre: Romance, Slice of Life Plot: Ji-Hoon (Lee Seo-Jin) has a cynical personality due to his family background. Even though he comes from a rich family, his mother had an affair with a married man and they had Ji-Hoon. From a young age, he became separated from his mother and began to live with his father’s family. One day, he learns that his mother has a liver disease and she doesn’t have much time left to live. Her only hope is to get a liver transplant. Ji-Hoon becomes desperate. At that time, he meets Hye-Soo (Uee) and her daughter Eun-Sung (Shin Rin-Ah). Hye-Soo has lived alone with her daughter Eun-Sung after her husband’s death. She is constantly hounded by loan sharks due to her late husband’s debt. Hye-Soo begins to work at the restaurant run by Ji-Hoon. She learns that she has a brain tumor and she needs money for her daughter after she passes away. Hye-Soo overhears from Ji-Hoon that he is looking for a liver donor for his mother. To make it happen legally, Ji-Hoon plans to marry the donor. Hye-Soo insists to Ji-Hoon that she wants to be the donor. Ji-Hoon, unaware of Hye-Soo’s brain tumor, accepts her offer and they prepare a marriage contract. WRONG! This drama adds more content and issues to this drama that makes it unpredictable. Furthermore, it had a lot of tear-up moments towards the end of the drama but in the end it was totally worth it. Plus, Shin Rin-Ah (child actor) was so cute through out the whole thing. Drama: Marrige Not Dating Genre: Romance Plot: A perfect man, Kong Ki-Tae (Yeon Woo-Jin), is forced to marry by his family, but he doesn’t to marry. To make his family give up, he introduces a woman, Joo Jang-Mi (Han Groo), to them that they would never accept. Dispite this, they the “couple” helps each other out with their problems. Drama: My Secrect Romance Genre: Romance Plot: Cha Jin-Wook (Sung Hoon) is a son from a wealthy family. His family runs a large company. Cha Jin-Wook only pursues short term love. He meets Lee Yoo-Mi (Song Ji-Eun) and changes. Lee Yoo-Mi has never had a boyfriend before. From this the two gets caught up in misunderstandings but slowly come back together. This drama is cute, and funny at times I WOULD TOTALLY RECOMMEND TO WATCH THIS SOON IF YOU HAVENT SEEN IT YET. Drama: Strong Woman Do Bong-Soon Genre: Romance, Supernatural Plot: Bong-Soon (Park Bo-Young) was born with superhuman like strength. Her strength is hereditary and passed along only to the women in her family. Her dream is to create a video game with herself as the main character. One day, Bong-Soon helps out a bus driver who is being attacked by a thug. Soon, a small mob of thugs attack Bong-Soon, but she is easily able to wipe the floor with them. During this time, Min-Hyuk (Park Hyung-Sik) drives up to the scene of Bong-Soon beating up the group of thugs. Min-Hyuk is the CEO of video gaming company Ainsoft. He has recently received anonymous threats and even followed by an unknown person. Min-Hyuk believes Bong-Soon would make a great bodyguard with her amazing strength. Besides offering Bong-Soon high pay, he even offers her the chance of working in the planning department of his gaming company if she does well. Meanwhile, crimes against women take place in the neighborhood where Bong-Soon lives. Detective Kook-Doo (Ji Soo) also lives in the same neighborhood. They have been friends since they were kids. Bong-Soon is also madly in love with him, but he has a girlfriend. Kook-Doo tries to solve the case and Bong-Soon and Min-Hyuk are pulled in. Furhtermore, there was a nice mix of funny and cute moments within the shows. I commend Park Bo-Young in her acting in the drama. I also MAJOR KEY COMMEND Kim Won-Hae for his amazing acting through this drama (you probally wont understand unless you watch the drama). THIS IS ANOTHER DRAMA THAT I WOULD RECOMMEND PEOPLE TO WATCH. Drama: Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo Genre: Romance, Slice of life, School Plot: Kim Bok-Joo (Lee Sung-Kyung) is a promising collegiate female weightlifter. Her father runs a small chicken restaurant and her uncle wants to become an actor. She has a bright personality and strong sense of justice. Kim Bok-Joo and her friends on the female weightlifting team are not popular with the guys and they don’t have boyfriends. The weightlifting team and the rhythmic gymnastic team also don’t get along at all. Meanwhile, Jung Joon-Hyung (Nam Joo-Hyuk) is a collegiate swimmer plagued with numerous false start disqualifications. He is 21-years-old and has a free spirit. His uncle and aunt raised him along with his cousin Jung Jae-Yi (Lee Jae-Yoon). One day on campus, Kim Bok-Joo bumps into Jung Joon-Hyung while he is riding his bicycle. Her face looks familiar to Jung Joon-Hyung. After he leaves, Kim Bok-Joo picks up a handkerchief left behind by Jung Joon-Hyung. The handkerchief is very important to him and he begins looking for it. Later, Kim Bok-Joo cleans and irons the handkerchief. She goes to the school’s swimming pool and gives back his handkerchief, but he explodes with anger when he sees that she cleaned it. Kim Bok-Joo then falls into the swimming pool and Jung Joon-Hyung jumps into the pool to save her. At that moment, Kim Bok-Joo and Jung Joon-Hyung realize where they have seen each other before. When they were both children, Kim Bok-Joo saved Jung Joon-Hyung’s life by catching him before he fell to the ground. Kim Bok-Joo and Jung Joon-Hyung’s relationship now begins.
