Acer Aspire 7 A715-72G Test and Review
Let’s start the week with the test of the Acer Aspire 7 A715-72G, a 15-inch laptop that shows good performance with a scalability of RAM and storage appreciated. On the other hand, the screen is a little dark and electromagnetic vibrations (coil whine) are audible.

Comments on the chassis, connectors and input devices are taken from the test of the Acer Aspire 7 A715-71G performed by the tester a few times earlier.
Chassis / Aesthetics
Acer has obviously wanted to make its Aspire 7 A715-72G a computer mat, without any identifiable aesthetic touch. Plastic is in the spotlight on the entire hull. Only the surround of the keyboard and the back of the lid are covered with a brushed aluminum coating which ensures a good resistance but retains fingerprints. Good surprise, the hinges apply the ideal pressure and allow the screen to be opened at 180 degrees. The measurements are in the average high of its category.
Connectors
The Acer Aspire 7 A715-72G provides all the connectivity a multimedia PC needs, without more. In total, four USB ports are present, but two of them are limited by the 2.0 standard. An HDMI output and a Gigabit Ethernet port are also on the menu, as well as an angled power cable so as not to impede handling. A USB 3.1 Type-C port and an SD card reader are added to the package. There is also a fingerprint reader positioned at the top left corner of the touchpad.
Maintenance
Two maintenance hatches are present and give access to the two RAM slots and the 2.5 inch (HDD) bay. On the other hand, whoever wants to clean the ventilation or access the M.2 port should dismantle the hull entirely.
Keyboard / Touchpad
Overall, the keyboard is comfortable with its good sized keys, limited noise and noticeable pressure point. In contrast, the shot is a little too “spongy” to the taste of the tester. Note the presence of a white backlight system (1 shade) for easier black-out. The touchpad is satisfactory. It handles multitouch gestures well and its surface is soft and comfortable. Integrated mouse clicks are accurate.
Screen
The screen of the Acer Aspire 7 A715-72G is based on an IPS panel with stable viewing angles and Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 px). However, the tester was expecting a higher brightness level at this level (247.7 cd / m²) and a higher contrast (500: 1). Unsurprisingly, the colorimetry follows the trend with average results, a sRGB space covered at 57% and a Delta E around 5. The matte slab provides good visibility outdoors, but better to stay in the shade because of the low light.
performances
Built around a latest-generation Hexa Core i7-8750H, 8GB of RAM and 1.2TB hybrid storage, the model tested concentrates enough power to satisfy any user and ends up on a system of the most reactive. The processor behaves very well inside this Acer Aspire A715-72G with good management of 6 cores over time.
The graphic part is entrusted to the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti which is exploited when the NVIDIA Optimus management system considers that its resources are necessary. This one allows to play in Full HD High with a good level of FPS on the majority of the titles of the market. Again, the graphics card is comfortable in this laptop.
Temperatures / Noise
The sound of ventilation is not really a problem here since the cooling system is inactive when the use is light and the level has risen to a maximum of 43 dB in the extreme operating test. the average. Note however that the tested model emits a permanent sizzle. The PC heats to the extent reasonable, both inside and on the surfaces.
Autonomy
The battery life has surprised the tester by its longevity. The model in test held nearly 6 ½ hours in Web browsing with active Wifi, a good result for its architecture.
