Alaska State Inmate Search Process

The formal department website is a fast and reliable way to locate an inmate in Alaska. Here are simple steps to help you conduct an effective Alaska State inmate search.

Step 1: Visit the Alaska Search Database page.

Step 2: Enter the first and last names on the search box, then click on the ‘Inmate Search button. A list of inmates with details related to your search pops up.

Step 3: Click on the detainee’s name to obtain more details.

A successful inmate search enables searchers to access details such as;

  • Name of incarceration facility

  • Release dates

  • Detainee’s physical details

  • Date of imprisonment

  • Charges

  • Gender

  • Race

Alternatively, you can search for an inmate using the state prisoner VINE Link tool. It enables state residents, particularly crime victims, to conduct a follow-up process on the offender’s custody status.

The lookup tool is also independent and primarily provides details about the incarceration facility or the specific court hearing criminal case trials. Interested members may search for city jail inmates on the police department website and access sites for detainees’ listings. If search details are unavailable, you can call the Alaska DOC’s officials at 907 (269)7384.

Crime victims need to sign up for an account to receive email updates if there are status changes. They also receive email notifications about upcoming court hearings and criminal case proceedings. During the account creation process, members must provide the detainee’s first and last name and the inmate’s incarceration number.

The department also keeps a registry of sex offenders and child kidnappers. The information is available to the public to be on the lookout for those who may re-offend.
