Amazon.com: ASUS PH-GT1030-O2G GeForce GT 1030 2GB Phoenix Fan OC Edition HDMI DVI Graphics Card : Electronics

I wish I had known that before I purchased it that it only supports up to 60hz as a monitor refresh rate. I have a monitor that is capable of 144hz using dual link DVI-I. It also has a HDMI port that I used with the video card. I used the DVI-D connection on the card with a KVM switch with which I had to purchase an additional active adapter since DVI-D single link doesn’t support VGA anymore.

I was able to use the nvidia control panel and set a custom resolution of 1920×1080 progressive at 85hz. Do so at your own risk as it states it will void your warranty. lol. Not so much worried about it as I bought this as a open box for 60 dollars last week off the site.

I upgraded from 2 BFG 9800GTX+ in sli that I purchased in 2008 after one of them started causing random system crashes https://www.amazon.com/BFG-BFGE98512GTXPOCBE-GeForce-Express-Graphics/dp/B001L2IJM2
I wish they were still manufactured. Probably worth the upgrade with the money I’ll save on electricity now anyhow with the increased performance.

Overall I’m pleased with the performance of this card. It’s a real pity that the in game osd shows that I’m getting FPS of 80-100 in the titles that I play when the card itself is only capable of pushing out 60hz refresh rates. Therefor a rating of only 4 stars is warranted.

Also over clocking the card is easy with the ASUS GPU TweakII from their website.
I have it clocked stable in the gui at;
GPU Boost: 1755MHz
Memory Clock: 8350MHz
The ingame osd shows it running at just a hair over 2000MHz at full load. Temperature stays between 40-45c in game. At idle on the desktop it’s 28-29c. I’ve not yet heard the fan ramp up. It’s very quite. The old 9800’s sounded like a dual prop plane throttling up.

Other than that shipping was a breeze thanks to Amazon’s great service.
