Apple Cinemas (Cambridge) – All You Need to Know BEFORE You Go

For most of the past 20 years, theaters at this location seemed well below average. Loews, Entertainment, Sony, Entertainment (again) all tried and largely failed to run a good theater operation. 5 years ago, uncomfortable seating, failing projection equipment, and malfunctioning sound systems brought this place down to a single star.

It was purchased a few years ago and has gradually improved to the point where this is a convenient and comfortable place to enjoy a new release. Large reclining stadium seating (most are motorized) is very nice. The picture is bright and clear. Screen sizes vary, but the larger theaters feature truly large screens. Sound systems are new and very good. Online ordering and reserved seating is a plus.

Surprisingly, the concessions are pretty good for theater fare. The popcorn is nonGMO and popped with clean canola. The ice cream is not terrible. The rest is as one might expect (popular candies and beverages). No booze, unlike other local venues. Overall cleanliness is good, but the restrooms could use an update or some TLC.

It’s nice that this non chain theater has come back to life.
