Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP)

The Department of English of Bangladesh University of Professionals started its journey in August 2015 as the cornerstone of the humanities of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS). The department offers the Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in English with two specializations: a) English Literature and Cultural Studies (ELCS) and b) English Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics (ELTAL). The department also offers MA in English Literature and Cultural Studies (ELCS) and MA in English Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics (ELTAL).

Students have begun completing post-graduation since 2019 from the Department of English and the performance of the alumni has been found excellent at professional level. Approximately 10% of the alumni joined different public & private universities as faculty members and others have been serving in different sectors of the country. The department oversees activities of two vibrant clubs of BUP, namely – BUP Literature and Drama Club (BUPLDC) and BUP Research Society (BUPRS). These clubs organize National Research Project Contest and BUP Litfest at national level of the country.
