Binam Ghimire
I am a senior lecturer in finance. My research interests are mostly motivated by the literature in sustainable corporate finance, socially responsible investment and financial development. In sustainable corporate finance and investment, I look into portfolio theory, capital structure and performance of stocks that are socially responsible. Within financial development, I am interested in the debate on access to finance, and the linkage and complementary relationship between banks and stock markets for sustainable development.
My teachings are primarily focussed within finance with specialism in investment, risk and derivatives which benefits from over a decade of commercial experience including professional banking, credit analyst and consortium finance. I make extensive use of Excel, Bloomberg and E-views to increase the broader skill set of my students and enhance the experiential content of my teaching. In the school, I am the programme leader for two postgraduate finance courses: 1) MSc International Financial Management, and 2) MSc International Finance and Investment as the programme leader. Both the programmes have been structured to cover several important learning required by the professional awards such as the Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement (CIPM) and Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) qualifications.
