II. Our communities

With the aim to bring the genuine and long term support for communities in need in Vietnam, every year EVG chose a commune to support, along with previous commune that we have been supported before. Hoping to bring a positive change to them.

III. Our Projects

1)      Service Learning in Vietnam and Partnering in International Service Learning

Service-Learning (SL) is a method under which students or participants apply and develop what they have learnt in school through active participation in thoughtfully organized service that is conducted to meet certain needs of a community. In other words, in Service-Learning, participants not only learn the practical applications of their studies, they also actively contribute to their community.

EVG is the first non-governmental organization (NGO) that introduced this method in Ho Chi Minh City. We believe that every community service has to be accompanied by learning about the community’s needs and implementing our talents to further enhancement of future services. Many young people in Ho Chi Minh served the community for wrong motivations, such as a good resume or simply looking for interesting activities. EVG aims to change their mind-sets by imparting an understanding of the benefits of Service Learning Projects for their personal development and the community as well.

Since 2009, EVG has partnered with many schools and universities from Singapore, USA, Hong Kong, Australia, … for Service-Learning programs in Vietnam. EVG has organized more than 200 International Service-Learning with partners at poor regions and ethnic minority communities to make better life and education for those areas.

In 2014, The founder of EVG has agreed to join Hoa Sen University to set up the Center for Service-Learning. It is the first Center that focuses on developing and integrating Service-Learning into different faculties and disciplines in the university.

In 2022, EVG has signed MOU with Van Lang University for developing Service-Learning for the university in 3 areas: (1) Developing Service-Learning course for students,  (2) Set up Community of Practice for the lecturers for Service Learning and (3) Develop different International Service-Learning programs.

EVG also participated different international Service-Learning conference in Hong Kong and Singapore to promote Service Learning in Vietnam and learning new knowledge and practices.

 2) Community and Volunteering Center (CVC) – EVG Community Library model

The CVC focuses on addressing the need of the community through the providence of public amenity within the commune. It includes a public accessible EVG Community Library, a children playground with recycle materials , state of the art multi-purposed Classroom that focuses on STEM, IT, and quality education for the community. It also consists off Community Recreational Center and Sport Area.

The first one is located at Phong Thanh, Cau Ke, Tra Vinh.

The second one is located at Gia Bac Commune, Lam Dong province.

The aim of CVC is supporting the community sustainably through education. CVC acts as the gate to connect the world outside to the rural areas: Educational programs, different training programs such as values, healthcare, business for the children and adult.

CVC serves three purposes:

  • Educational and Community Hub
  • The Gate to knowledge
  • Back to our human being’s core values.
