Dr Shyam Sunder Patiar MBE

Dr Shyam Sunder Patiar MBE is a founder Director of SP International Hospitality Consultancy Limited and works as an Independent International Consultant in UK, Europe and Asia. He has been involved in the Hospitality and Tourism Education and Training for the last 50 years and has been involved in the setting up of a Vocational, Education and Training Centre for the training of hospitality personnel in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Shyam has been recognised by the British Hospitality Association and the Craft Guild of Chefs for his contribution to education and training for the hospitality industry in the UK.

He has already acted as a lead judge for various hospitality and catering competitions at the local, regional, European and international levels. Shyam is also committed in the selection and training of competitors for the World Skills Olympics. At present, he is a Technical Expert for Restaurant Service and leading the training of UK competitor for World Skills 2017 in Abu Dhabi which is being held from 14th October 2017 to 19th October 2017.

Shyam has also presented papers for publication on topics such as ‘’Comparing Standards of Chefs Education with European and Anglophonic Countries’’, ‘’Achieving Competence with Excellence in the Hospitality and Catering Industry’ and ‘’Issues related with the Perception and Image of the Hospitality Industry in Staff Recruitment’’. He has also presented evidence on the Impact of Globalisation on the Welsh Economy to the Select Committee at the House of Commons.

He also represents as a member of the Professional Association of Catering Educators (PACE), National Advisory Council of City and Guilds for the Hospitality and Catering Education, Board of Director and Vice President on the Executive Committee of the Leading Hotel Schools in Europe (EURHODIP) based in Brussels, Belgium, World Association of Hospitality and Tourism Educators (AMFORHT) based in Nice, France, Education Catering Association – International, London, UK and Regional Vice Chairman for Federation of Small Businesses.
