Group Population Management

Population management for species that are maintained in groups such as herds, troops, flocks and schools is a rapidly growing field. Individuals within a group are typically difficult to identify and have unknown pedigrees and ages, so planned breeding recommendations cannot be made (e.g. schools of African cichlids).

Experts from around the world have begun to focus on the development and implementation of group population management technologies and programs currently exist for a variety of taxa including snails, fish, flamingos, toads, guenons, and gazelles.
