The unprecedented days of 2020 set the stage for a new age, and we welcome the new year knowing nothing will ever be the same again. For some there is a sense that through the chaos a great awakening is unfolding and in honour of this spirit, Golden Ratio Frequencies is excited to announce our first release of 2021: HATHOR’S ROSE CHOIR.
Led by London-based sound healer and shamanic artist, Lani Rocillo, Hathor’s Rose Choir is a co-creative journey through intuitive song creation. Primarily a participatory performance group composed of musicians, dancers, and storytellers embodying mystic traditions and practicing various therapeutic arts, Hathor’s Rose Choir communicates the instinctive, the non-verbal, the deeply felt and raw, powerful emotion. The collective’s performances are an invitation into co-created ritual, dissolving boundaries between audience and performer and invoking higher states of presence through sonic unity and plant medicines.
Says founder Lani Rocillo:
“Heart sensing heart. The delight when barriers fall and we emerge again and again to Self. We sing of truth, living in the moment. It is about the frequency at flow and not the attachment to the process. The frequency is Love, marvelling in the mysteries of shadows and light. Love all encompassing love.”
Invoking a divine energy, the group creates a space where the unique voice finds harmony in dissonance, realising flow, surrender, inseparability and impermanence in sound.
This special collection of recordings documents four separate live performances from the improvisational group, held in sacred spaces such as churches and mosques, where the harmonising sounds of human voice weave in, around and through each other in a delicate dance of the ephemeral, that lights on both intangible essence within and without.
With recording, production, and mixing from downtempo and ambient producer O.utlier (SZE, Astral Industries), Paul Ressell, and Nicola Serra that perfectly capture the rich, natural reverb these sacred architectures were built for, we find these haunting pieces channel the spirits of visionary mystic Hildegard Von Bingen or the female lament songs of native Iceland as utilised by Akira Rabelais’ cult classic Spellewauerynsherde album, and inducing a celestial serenade tapping into the beyond that lies within.
With a project that has its foundations built upon experiential participatory performance, and during these current times of restricted gatherings and movements we currently find in the world, we are bringing the ceremony to you. Physical copies of the album are manifested in a special limited edition deluxe RITUAL BOX SET, containing the album on ruby rose red transparent C74 cassette with on body print, a piece of sacred rose quartz crystal, mystic rose incense stick, and ceremonial dried rose petals, with a risograph printed inlay, all housed in a recycled card box with a hand stamped Rose of Venus glyph gracing the cover.
Improvised and instinctive, this visionary project is like no other and invites connection, depth and discovery. Voices uniting in ubiquitous sound, Hathor’s Rose Choir sing intuitively, with an inclusive aim of encouraging the listener to merge with the performance, finding too their own way of liberating expression.
