How to Reset a Motherboard on an Asus Laptop
The motherboard is the main circuit board in a computer that interfaces with connected hardware. When you start a computer, the motherboard BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) initializes the connected computer components and loads the installed operating system into temporary memory. Many computers allow you to enter into a BIOS configuration menu and make changes based on your computer preferences. If you wish to reset any changes to the motherboard in your Asus laptop, you can enter into the BIOS configuration utility and load the optimized default settings.
Turn the laptop on. If it is already on, click “Start,” click the right arrow next to “Shut Down” and select “Restart.”
Press the “F2” key on your keyboard repeatedly when the “Asus” logo appears on the computer screen. Continue pressing “F2” until the BIOS setup screen appears. The BIOS screen will either be a gray screen with blue text or a blue screen with yellow text (depending on your particular computer).
Press the “F5” key on your keyboard to load the optimized default settings, if the BIOS screen is gray with blue text. Alternatively, press the “F7” key to load the optimized default settings, if the BIOS screen is blue with yellow text.
Press the “F10” key on your keyboard to save the changes and exit the BIOS configuration utility.
Press the “Y” key then press “Enter” to confirm the changes and restart the computer.
Tips
Some older laptops may require you to press the “Del” key instead “F2” to enter the BIOS configuration utility.
