I’m Loving You Or I Love You?

I’m loving you. would literally mean that at the moment of speaking (right now) I’m in the process of loving you, which is odd and I can’t really see it being used for any reasons other than poetic effect… Well, unless the speaker is trying to sound “cool” by deviating from the standard rules of English grammar. In some cases, however, I’m loving something has a meaning very close to I’m enjoying something, for example: I’m loving this show so far. It is a tricky question but I’m loving you. is not what you would normally say to your loved one and for some reason the progressive form sounds much better when used with things rather than people. Of course love for a person can change over time but it certainly doesn’t change so dynamically and there’s really no call for the continuous tense.
