Is Apple TV+ Free With Apple Music? Student Offer, Explained

Apple has spent the last few years building up a collection of streaming services that include Apple TV+ and Apple Music, but these services are not always sold as a pair. Users can sometimes gain access to multiple Apple streaming services for a lower cost. Apple Music is a streaming giant on its own — competing with Spotify, Tidal and Amazon Music for market share — with multiple plans catered to different types of users. On the other hand, Apple TV+ is still growing but has garnered audience attention despite a limited content catalog. But to get the best value out of the company’s services, they can be bundled as part of various subscription plans.

The company typically offers special deals and promotions catered to students, which is a big deal for its success in that market. Students are usually on a budget, and that lifestyle doesn’t always align with Apple’s price model. However, deals for both hardware and software purchases can make Apple’s products and services more accessible for students. For example, the company’s annual back-to-school sale offers discounts on select Macs and iPads and gives students a free Apple gift card. For services, year-round discounts are available to students enrolled at higher education institutions. That includes subscriptions like Apple Music, and some offers even provide students with a free pair of Beats earbuds.

Apple TV+ is $4.99 monthly, while an individual Apple Music plan costs $9.99 per month. However, some bundles include both of these services under a single monthly fee. For example, Apple One is a single subscription that gives users access to iCloud+, Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple News, Apple Arcade and Apple Fitness+. Prices start at $14.99 per month but vary based on the type of plan. It’s the same price as the cost of Apple TV+ and Apple Music but provides more value and access to all the company’s services. But for students, Apple TV+ is free with an active Apple Music Student subscription.

Students currently enrolled at a higher education institution can get a great discount on Apple Music and receive an Apple TV+ subscription at no additional cost. To subscribe to an Apple Music Student plan, users must verify their student eligibility through UNiDAYS, a third-party website. It’s commonly used to get student discounts and may be used for the Apple Store soon. The Apple Music Student plan is just $4.99, which is 50 percent off an individual subscription. It can only be used for 48 months — a typical four-year undergraduate degree period — and must be verified yearly, but it is a great way to save on Apple’s services.

To make the deal even better, Apple is providing students with an Apple Music Student plan access to Apple TV+ free of charge. The company says that this offer is only available for a limited time, but there are no indications that this offer will end anytime soon, and there is no set end date for the deal. The Apple TV+ access allows students to watch Apple Original movies and TV shows on the platform but is tied to that Apple ID. Student offers do not work with Family Sharing and can only be accessed through the student’s account. Though most users have to subscribe to Apple Music and Apple TV+ separately, students can grab a subscription to both services at a lower cost.
