Emily Li, Biology

Hi! I am Emily Li, and I am a sophomore planning to major in Biology with a concentration in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. I have loved watching nature documentaries since childhood, and that unfolded into a long-lasting enthusiasm in the biological sciences (and their intersection with everything STEM)! In my free time, I love swimming, drawing, and hanging out with friends. I am excited to work with you!

Theo Gress, Biology

Hi, my name is Theo and I am a coterm student biology. I also majored in biology on the ecology and evolution track. Knowledge of ecology and environmental change for teaching about sustainability and conservation is extremely important to me. I am also a fan of chemistry and math but chose to focus on biology because of its breadth. I grew up in Sacramento, CA and volunteered at the local zoo talking to visitors about the animals, and conservation. In my free time I like hiking, kayaking, and playing board games.

Hello hello!! I’m Anoushka, a junior majoring in Human Biology and minoring in Human Rights! In my free time, I love to geek out over the entire NYTimes Games section (especially Letter Boxed), have deep conversations about epistemology with friends, and attempt to reenact the Great British Baking Show in my own kitchen. I am so excited to be an Appointment tutor for Chemistry this year, and I can’t wait to meet you 🙂 Before that though, let’s address the chem-ephant in the room: chem classes at Stanford. They’re tough, they’re stressful, and they sometimes make you want to cry (internally or externally, no judgment). But you are not alone! Don’t hesitate to make an appointment with me–we’ll talk through problems, help address any conceptual challenges or areas of improvement, and help you learn in a way that works for you!

Hi! I’m Athena, a rising junior from the Bay Area studying chemistry. I’m especially interested in organic and biochemistry! I’m also passionate about healthcare and patient advocacy, and I love working with people and engaging in community service. Crystal Chen, Chemistry

Hi! My name is Crystal, and I am a junior from Southern California. I’m majoring in Human Biology with a concentration in the neurobiology of behavior and development and minoring in Education. While this may sound crazy, I’ve come to enjoy the elegance within the chaos and struggles of chemistry classes — it’s fascinating how our bodies depend on basic chemical principles to thrive. Dylan MacFarlane, Chemistry

What’s up! My name is Dylan MacFarlane and I am a junior from Southern California. I am a Bioengineering major and have taken chemistry for the pre-med core. In my free time I can usually be found lifting, swimming, or binging the latest shows on Netflix or HBO. As someone who heard (and experienced) all the horror stories about chemistry myself, I totally understand how scary and difficult those classes can be and I’d love to share all the tricks that helped me get more comfortable and confident in chemistry so you can be too.

Hi everyone! My name is Eshaan, I’m a junior from Northern Virginia majoring in chemical engineering and minoring in music. I’m fascinated by the mathematical understandings behind what we study in chemistry, and how we can combine chemistry, engineering, and biology to promote human health. Hey everyone! My name is Jordan John, but you can call me Jordan! I am a second-year co-term in Epidemiology and Clinical Research, and I hope to attend medical school once my co-term is complete! Hi there! My name is Alan, and I am a junior majoring in biology and chemistry. I am from Maryland, but I have loved the West Coast ever since attending Stanford. Heyoo! I’m Alina Pollner and I am a junior majoring in Human Biology and Math on the pre-med track. Doing the pre-med chemistry sequence here at Stanford not only taught me the mechanisms behind how our body truly works, but also how to study effectively through lots of trial and error. Hey! I’m Angel, I’m a senior majoring in Computer Science, and I’m from San Jose, CA. I study software systems because I like thinking about system design, which sometimes means long hours of coding and debugging. BUT.
