Nintendo Support: How to Access an Apple Router’s Settings via Airport Utility

What to Do:

The following steps differ when using Windows or MAC OS.

Windows:

  1. Select the Start button located in the bottom left corner.
  2. Navigate to “All Programs,” locate the “Airport Utility” program, and click on it to launch the program.
  3. Once the program has started, it will scan for compatible Airport stations.
  4. Choose your wireless network from the list and type your Airport’s password into the box provided.
    • The Airport’s password is distinct from your wireless network’s password; this password is only used to access the Airport’s settings.
  5. If you need to find out what your wifi password is, select “Base Station” within the Airport Utility, scroll down and select “Equivalent Network Password.” Your wifi network password will now be displayed.

MAC:

  1. Click on the “Finder” icon located on your Dashboard.
  2. Select “Applications” and then “Utilities.”
  3. Select “Airport Utility.”
  4. Once the program has started, it will scan for compatible Airport stations.
  5. Choose your wireless network from the list and type your Airport’s password into the box provided.
    • The airport’s base station password is distinct from the Wi-fi network’s password; this password is meant to only be used to access the airport’s wireless settings via Airport Utility.
  6. You will come to a screen with your Airport icon(s). Choose the Airport you wish to access.
  7. Select the “Wireless” tab to view your Wi-Fi network information. You will be able to change your network name, channel, security, etc. on this page.
