Reddit – Dive into anything

I have a Strix G531G laptop with GeForce RTX2060, 16 Gb of RAM, and i7-9750H processor.

I remember it worked very well when I bought it about a year and a half ago.

A couple months ago I started playing just performance-light games, but when I tried to launch something more demanding I noticed very, very low fps. Because of those couple months I am not sure if the drop was continuous or if it just happened one day with an update or smth.

A game I remember running very smoothly before, now struggles to get 20 fps at lowest settings and 80% render resolution. When lowering the render resolution to like 60% I get above 30 fps, but at that point the image is way too blurry…

Another game now stays around 50 fps at lowest settings, when just a few months back I am sure it maintained a steady 120 fps.

I also tried running UserBenchMark multiple times (with slightly different Nvidia global settings), and it told me my GPU performs way below potential, in the 10th percentile…

I have tried doing a clean driver reinstall, tinker with Nvidia settings and all that, but these results is still the highest I got.

The probles seems to lie with the GPU, when checking performance it is at 95-100% usage when playing games while CPU is rarely above 50.

It is possible the problem may be the fans, for a while I have been feeling like they don’t blow as hard as they should… The temperature of the CPU and GPU when playing a game are usually just under 95 C, not sure if that’s normal or too high…

Can you please help me with this? Is the problem most likely hardware or is it something I can fix through settings?
