Review: Loreal Paris UV Perfect Aqua Essence SPF50 | PA++++
I ran out of my previous sunscreen and just happened to have this on hand. I received this from a goodie bag, but you can get it from Watsons at $20.90. But if you happen to chance upon this, hopefully this review will help. How does this sunscreen fare? Here are my thoughts:
The Good
Let’s start with the amount of protection this offers: and SPF 50 for a specialised sunscreen product is pretty normal, but I have never seen a PA ++++ before. PA ++++ accounts for UVA protection, (UV rays that reach the earth are further categorised into UVA and UVB radiation) and that’s important because unlike UVB rays, UVA rays can pass through glass, so even if you’re indoors, you’re still vulnerable to UVA rays. Isn’t that a scary thought? So a higher PA is always good.
The texture of this sunscreen is really cool too.
The nozzle of the bottle is really slim, making it easy to squeeze out small amounts of the sunscreen, so you won’t accidentally squeeze out too much product.
The formulation does leave my skin slightly whiter, which is a nice help in brightening my complexion. It doesn’t have the usual sunscreen smell as well, which is something I appreciate.
The Bad
Now above I mentioned that the sunscreen is absorbed really quickly by the skin. That’s true, but a bit too quickly, I find. So it makes it really hard to spread this product across my face. It leaves a pretty sticky finish, which really doesn’t work for someone with oily skin like me.
And as you could probably guess from the name of the product, Aqua essence pretty much translates to: no oil control properties at all. With this sunscreen, my face gets shiny super fast, even though I’m using other oil controlling products.
Conclusion
I think people with dry skin would like this sunscreen and the protection it offers, sans the sticky finish. But it doesn’t work with my skin at all. I think I’ll be finding another sunscreen soon.
