The Apple Watch Series 5 is only a minor update from the previous generation. This Hermes edition has been created through a partnership between the French luxury brand Hermes and Apple. The watch features a stainless steel casing instead of the regular aluminum casing. As part of the Hermes edition, this watch comes with a Sapphire crystal layer covering the screen and minor software tweaks that provide the user with a customized experience. The watch features double the storage capacity at 32 GB of flash storage as well as a faster process. The Apple S5 processor features 2 cores and 1 GB of ram. While the majority of the watch has stayed the same, the new series 5 adds an emergency calling feature for emergencies. Both battery life and the screen specifications have remained the same from the previous generation. 

The Hermes edition watch also features a selection of customized bands and straps only available to this range. These include a Single Tour or Double Tour black band with a Space Black stainless steel casing, or a silver steel casing with a Fauve Double Tour or Single Tour band. All black casing models had the black Hermes sport band as an option whilst the silver casing models had an optionable orange Hermes sport band. A selection of leather bands was also available as well as bands in orange, red, blue, and brown.

All cellular-enabled Apple watches such as this one are able to connect to the internet without the need to be tethered to an iPhone. However, tethering is still required to enable the majority of the features available on the series 5 Apple watch.
