Windows 10 – How to boot the system from USB drive/CD-ROM on the G11CD Desktop?

If you want to boot the system from USB drive/CD-ROM, you need to enter BIOS to set up configuration by holding the ‘Delete’ key or ‘F8’ key (choose ‘Enter Setup’ when the menu appears) after powering on the unit.

If it’s difficult to catch and the system boots to Windows instead, hold the Shift key while you restart Windows to enter ‘Advanced startup’ and look under the ‘troubleshoot’/advanced options for the ‘UEFI Firmware settings’ to enter the BIOS.

1. Once you enter the BIOS configuration, please go to tab [BOOT].

2. Select ‘Secure Boot’ and change the ‘OS Type’ setting to ‘Other OS‘ to disable secure boot.  Hit the ‘ESC’ key to return to the previous Boot menu screen.

3. Also, under the boot menu, select ‘CSM (Compatibility Support Module)’ and confirm the ‘Launch CSM’ setting is on ‘Auto’ (which should be the default) or that it is Enabled.

4.  Make sure the USB drive or CD/DVD disk you want to boot to is inserted/installed before pressing F10 to save and exit the bios settings, otherwise, your boot device/disk may not be detected.

5. You can boot the system from USB drive/CD-ROM by the following three methods. Be aware that you would see 2 different boot options for your boot device so make sure to select the correct one or try both UEFI and non-UEFI boot options if you’re not sure which is correct..

(1) Enter BIOS -> Select [Boot] -> Select USB drive/CD-ROM under the [Boot Override] options

(2) Enter BIOS -> Select [Boot] -> Change the boot device priority so that your USB drive/CD-ROM is the first boot device. Save and exit bios to keep this setting but you may want to change it back later to avoid booting to external devices/disks accidentally when they are plugged in/installed.

(3) Hold and press the [F8] key while you press the power button to turn on the system. You can select either UEFI or non-UEFI boot device from the list.
