Recently after moving across the state to the Kenai Peninsula, my older Cub came due for it’s annual inspection. I was referred to David Schmidt as being a mechanic willing to work on and evaluate older Cubs and not expect to make them into new airplanes. He took my Cub, evaluated it and completed a good thorough annual on it, and gave me a list of and discussed what I needed to plan for in the next year or two as parts aged. David was very easy to work with (very nice guy!), very reasonable in his evaluation of my older Cub, and also quite reasonable in his charges. I expect to fly up to his new shop next year for the next annual, and for any repairs along the way. It will be well worth the trip.Chris Peterson

I was very fortunate to be referred to Dave. Dave was outstanding to work with. He went WAY out of his way to help me with an aircraft inspection. He was thorough and prompt. I am a new pilot and have been very concerned about finding a good mechanic, but finding Dave has eliminated that concern!

Dave, at Aircraft Alaska Inc is a top notch person, airplane mechanic and business owner who cares. Recently I had an unforeseen issued with my elevator trim actuator on my Cessna 182, he was able to diagnose the problem and get it replaced without any delay. Prior to this I knew Dave while he worked for The State of Alaska, his willingness to help others, taking care of business and his integrity is why I’ll continue to trust him with my maintenance needs.

I just want say that Aircraft Alaska sure standsout. I needed an inspection last week and Dave really came through for me. He not just a really good mechanic, but he is dependable and shows up when says he will. I like that Dave is also an aircraft owner himself…so he understands both sides of aircraft ownership.

Dave is a very experienced mechanic, but most importantly honest. Before Dave I never tipped a mechanic, but when he gives me a bill I always feel he undercharged for the time he spent. That said what I like most is during an annual he will give you a list of what needs to be repaired for airworthiness and a list of nice to fix. I fly a 1973 piper arrow that I have owned for 4 years, slowly working on the nice to fix issues each year
