AppleCare
AppleCare is a warranty and support service provided by Apple for products from the company. For most new purchases of Apple hardware, one year of limited warranty and 90 days of technical support are included, with the option to purchase plans for longer service periods.
History
AppleCare began as an optional extended warranty option for the Macintosh; sales increased dramatically with the introduction of the iPhone. Apple does not disclose sales figures for AppleCare services, but Warranty Week estimated sales of $1.3 billion in 2007, $3.4 billion in 2011, over $6 billion in 2014, and $7.25 billion in 2015, making it the world’s largest extended warranty program.[1] In 2011, Apple introduced AppleCare+, an option that covers accidental damage for iPhones.[2]
