 Do pool heat pumps work?

A pool heat pump works by extracting the heat from the surrounding ambient air temperature. When installing an Aqua Pro Heat Pump, we recommend using it in conjunction with a solar blanket in order to retain the heat created by the heat pump. Although it may seem unnecessary to take a solar blanket on and off when there is a heat pump installed, it is certainly worth the effort as approximately 75% of the heat created by the heat pump can be retained in the water with the use of a solar blanket.

Unlike solar panels, which rely on the sun’s rays to heat the pool, a heat pump is powered through electricity, providing warm pool water even on those cloudy days.

The Aqua Pro Inverter Plus Heat Pump is more energy efficient than a traditional on/off heat pump. The compressor will automatically lower its speed to lessen the power consumption to reach the desired temperature, up to 15-30% less power consumption.

The Aqua Pro Inverter Plus Heat Pump can maintain a very low sound level – about 40db at 1 meter, providing a more pleasant swimming experience.

After the heat pump is started, it will run at maximum capacity and reach the set temperature faster than other heat pumps.
