Asus VG248QE Repair
Background and Identification
The VG248QE is a 24-inch gaming monitor released by Asus in 2013. It features a 1920×1080 pixel panel with a refresh rate up to 144 Hz. The left side of the monitor holds the HDMI, DisplayPort, and DVI inputs as well as the audio input and output jacks. To enjoy the full 144 Hz refresh rate, you must use either a DisplayPort or DVI cable.
The monitor is marketed as having a 1 ms response time for gaming purposes. It also supports Nvidia’s 3D Vision technology, which allows you to use active shutter glasses with supported games to create a 3D effect. Unfortunately, the technology and drivers were discontinued in 2019.
That same year—perhaps as a result of 3D Vision’s demise—Asus released two more monitors in the VG248 series which share many of the same features. The VG248QZ uses the same design as the VG248QE but does not include 3D Vision support and does not have the word “3D“ on the stand. The VG248QG, in contrast, uses a different design with a red circular accent on the stand. It also features support for Nvidia G-Sync. You can see a comparison chart for these three monitors at the DisplaySpecifications website.
To identify which Asus monitor you have, look for the model number or serial number on a sticker on the back of the case as shown in this support article. You can enter the serial number on the Asus warranty page to find your model.
