Apple in Canada

The operations of Apple Canada Inc. were established in Montreal in 1980 by Andre Sousan, who had also founded Eurapple, Apple’s first international subsidiary.[2][3] Apple’s Canadian headquarters were expanded in Markham, Ontario and by 2011 had over $700 million in assets.[4] In 2015, it was relocated to 120 Bremner Boulevard in Toronto.[5]

The first Apple retail store in Canada was opened on May 21, 2005 at the Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto.[6] The chain was rated Canada’s top retailer in 2011, with 22 stores opened by that time.[4] In early 2020, all 29 stores in Canada had been closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 17 locations reopened from May 20 to June 17.[7][8] Though all stores had reopened by the following year, Apple Sainte-Catherine in Montreal had re-closed in December 2021 due to an outbreak of the Omicron variant.[9]
