CeraVe’s AM Facial Lotion With Sunscreen Works Double Duty

If you’re looking for a basic moisturizer that addresses hydration concerns and also contains SPF, CeraVe’s AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion with Sunscreen is an easy, affordable option for anyone needing a two-in-one skincare product that offers suitable protection from harmful UV and UVB rays.

While it’s imperative to wear sunscreen every single day, you can’t always find it in other skincare products like moisturizers and creams. The thing about sunscreen in skincare is that it most certainly helps, yet it should be used in conjunction with regular sunscreen, especially when applying it to the face, neck, and chest. Doubling up on sunscreen can never hurt, which is why I put CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion with Sunscreen to the test to see if it was effective in protecting my skin against harmful UV and UVB rays—Keep scrolling for the results!

About the Brand: CeraVe was launched in 2005 after several leading dermatologists noticed that patients with skin issues such as dry skin, psoriasis, and eczema all had one thing in common: a compromised skin barrier. CeraVe offers a wide range of skincare and body products that all have one thing in common, each product containing 3 essential ceramides to help restore the skin’s natural protective barrier.

About My Skin: Skincare and SPF are two of my favorite things

Skincare and SPF are my two favorite products, seriously, This is where I invest most of my time and money, making sure I have skincare that is going to address my concerns along with covering myself head to toe every single day in SPF. I have combination sensitive skin, which means some parts are dry, others oily, and my skin can react to certain fragrances or ingredients. I am concerned with anti-aging and texture the most, and some brands I use consistently are Supergoop, Biologique Recherche, La Roche Posay, and EltaMD.

How to Apply: A dime-sized amount should do it

For this particular facial moisturizing lotion, you’re going to want to pump about a dime-sized amount into the palm of your hands, apply it in sections, and massage it into the face. Focus on areas like your forehead, cheeks, chin, and even neck and chest when using this product as any added SPF protection. If this is the only SPF you’re going to be using for the day, you want to make sure you apply it evenly, everywhere. If you use a separate sunscreen, you can follow up with this lotion as your final product.

This product is best when used for outdoor activities, like going to the beach or pool, taking a hike, or anything else that requires SPF and doesn’t require makeup. The texture of the lotion is thicker, yet it feels stickier to the touch and also when it dries down.

The Results: Best for outdoor use

The first few things I noticed right away about this facial moisturizing lotion were that it did not absorb as quickly as other moisturizers I’ve tried. You need to massage it in for a while before you feel like it’s fully absorbed. I also noticed that it left a slight white cast on my skin no matter how much I let it sit there after applying it.

When I tried to layer makeup on top of the lotion, it started to pill. After experimenting with it, I concluded that this product is best when used for outdoor activities, like going to the beach or pool, taking a hike, or anything else that requires SPF and doesn’t require makeup. The texture of the lotion is thicker, yet it feels stickier to the touch and also when it dries down. Overall, I would not use this as a daily moisturizer and would use it only when I am exposed to more sun than usual, along with a complete facial SPF sunscreen underneath.

The Value: Budget-friendly

Coming in at under $20 for a moisturizer and SPF in one, this lotion is certainly budget-friendly; yet you might only find yourself using it for certain outdoor events, which in return may cause you to think more before investing your money, as you might prefer a product you can use each day.
