The iPhone 7 Plus is a smartphone designed by Apple Inc. and released on September 16, 2016 as part of the iPhone series. Announced along with the smaller iPhone 7 on September 7, 2016, it serves as the successor to the iPhone 6S Plus of 2015, and as the predecessor of the iPhone 8 Plus and X in 2017.
Description
The iPhone 7 Plus is an evolution over its predecessor, featuring improved hardware specifications, including upgraded rear-facing and front-facing cameras; a faster Apple A10 Fusion processor; a new chassis made of a stronger alloy of aluminum; second-generation Touch ID; improved LTE and Wi-Fi connectivity; and new Jet Black and Black finishes in addition to the Rose Gold, Silver, and Gold finishes found on the previous models, while maintaining an identical design. However, it was also the first iPhone to not feature a headphone jack, which was hugely controversial when first announced. According to Apple, the jack was eliminated make space for additional components such as the Taptic Engine and help achieve water resistance.[1] The devices ship with iOS 10 pre-installed.
In March 2017, a (PRODUCT)RED limited edition model was released, which features a red finish and white front. It was only available in 128GB and 256GB capacities, and was discontinued six months later. Every Red iPhone 7 and 7 Plus sold helped raise money to fight AIDS.
