It was fun, for awhile. I don’t know when all the samples started rolling in, but this might have taken it too far. As a person who literally had this song on repeat as a child, it’s hard for me to hear as anything other than “Barbie Girl,” so when Saweetie hopped on social media to share a little bit of a new song she has coming out, I was a little thrown when I heard the sample of “Barbie Girl” running under new lyrics for “Icy Girl.” While I am a HUGE Saweetie fan, hasn’t it been enough?
