Sriti Jha
Sriti Jha, popularly known as Pragya is a well-known face in the Indian television industry. Pragya is the name of her character from one of her best serials named Kumkum Bhagya. Even all the serial lovers know her by this name only. Sriti’s Pragya character was so hit that people eventually started to call her by the name Pragya. She had no prior acting training, but ever since she was a young child, she had wanted to be an actress. She is a very hard-working woman and has no acting background.
Sriti started her career in Mumbai on the famous TV reality show Dhoom Machaao Dhoom. She is from the small town of Begusarai in the Indian state of Bihar, which is Darbhanga. She inspires many young girls who want to be actresses but lack the necessary resources.
Childhood and Education
On February 26, 1986, Sriti Jha was born into a middle-class Brahmin family. The name of her father is Mithilesh Jha. Her two nicknames are often called “Jhalli” and “Titu”.
Sriti’s family moved to Kolkata when she was just a baby, and after a few years, her family shifted to Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. Sriti completed her primary education in Nepal. She pursued with Bachelor of Arts in English from Shree Venkateshwara College. However, when her parents again shifted to Delhi, she was admitted to Laxman Public School for further studies.
Sriti’s college had an English Dramatic Society by the name of Verbum. Because of her keen interest in acting, she joined it, and after a few years, she became its President.
“Ritual in Blood” was the first show from Verbum where Sriti got to play the main character. The play referenced Steven Berkoff, who portrays the Victorian Era during the 12th Century. Her performance was outstanding at the play, for which she was awarded the best actress award from the Dramatic Society department.
Career
In 2007, Sriti did her first television serial. She got a break in the serial named ‘Dhoom Machaao Dhoom’. Sriti played the role of Malini Sharma in this serial was broadcast on Disney Channel. Toral Rasputra, Jai Bhanushali, and Vikrant Massey were the actors in this serial, along with Sriti.
In 2008, she was a part of the television series “Jiya Jale,” in which she portrayed Sunaina Kotak. She performed in the 2009 television series “Shaurya Aur Suhani.” In this serial, she portrayed Princess Suhani. On the Star Plus channel, this serial was broadcast. Saurabh Pandey was Sriti’s co-actor in this television series.
She has also played a part in ‘Jyoti’-titled the next serial in 2009. She portrayed Sudha in this television series. The Image TV channel was where this serial was broadcast. In this serial, Sriti was joined on-screen by Sneha Wagh, Srinidhi Shetty, and Sameer Sharma.
She performed in the serial “Rakt Sambandh” in 2010. The NDTV Imagine channel aired this serial. In this serial, she took on the role of Sandhya. Sonali Nikkam, Dhruv Bhandari, and Nihar Thakkar co-starred with Sriti in this serial.
She played the roles of Jhanvi and Siya in the serial “Dil Se Di Dua… Saubhagyavati Bhava?” Alongside Sriti, the actors in this serial included Harshad Chopra, Jaya Ojha, Akanksha Juneja, and Karanvir Bohra. Sriti performed in “Balika Vadhu” in 2013, portraying Ganga.
Sriti performed in the 2014 television series “Kumkum Bhagya,” portraying Pragya Abhishek Arora. This serial made her very famous. People enjoy this serial a lot. The show is so popular even today that the show is still airing. The actors of this serial were Shabbir Aluwalia, Shikha Singh, Leena Jumani, Mugdha Chapekar, Mrunal Thakur and Vin Rana. She participated in many reality shows. Some are ‘Kaho Na Yaar Hai’ and ‘Meethi Chudi No 1’.
