We’re Finally Getting An iCar, But It’s Not From Apple | Carscoops

While the name iCar may initially conjure up images of Apple’s elusive automotive venture, it actually belongs to an EV brand created by Chery Automotive in 2021. Now, the Chinese automaker has released a trio of teaser sketches that offer a glimpse of their upcoming fully electric sportscar, the iCar GT.

The teasers depict a low-slung two-door sportscar with a long bonnet and a muscular bodywork. Interestingly, the T-shaped headlights and taillights integrated within the bumper intakes are reminiscent of Tesla‘s emblem something that could be said about the graphics on the large-diameter alloy wheels.

Other features include a sleek, grille-less nose, a pronounced chin, toned-up rear shoulders, and a sloping roofline towards the back. While these elements make for flashy sketches, they will likely be toned down for the production model. As of now, details on the iCar GT’s technical specifications remain scarce, but it is confirmed to feature a fully electric powertrain.

The iCar GT will debut in concept form at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show on April 18. However, as reported by Car News China, the sportscar won’t be iCar’s first production model. This title will go to a rugged SUV with an electric powertrain that has already been teased and is expected to debut before the end of the year looking similar to Chery’s Jetour Traveller in terms of proportions. Other Chinese media suggest that iCar is also working on an electric sedan.

It will be interesting to see if the company gets into legal troubles with Apple for using the iCar name on its products, especially if it plans on exporting them to markets outside China.
