I work with Swedish to English – Swedish has no “ing” form for verbs, one consequence being that they like to use it often and frequently in the wrong places, as would be the case here. (Doesn’t anyone alse think that “I am loving you” is very peculiar English?).
To me this looks like a mistranslation – the small “i” – so that to infer the meaning of “still” as being “nevertheless/in spite of” (rather than “even now”) is perhaps to credit the author with a more sophisticated use of English than seems to be warranted.
