ACEP Summer Internship Program

2023 ACEP Summer Internship Program
Program Dates: May 30, 2023 – August 11, 2023

The UAF Alaska Center for Energy and Power (ACEP) summer internship is a 10-week program for students to gain hands-on research experience and skill development in the energy industry.

This summer, ACEP offers two internship strands: AUSI and NSF REU. Regardless of strand, all interns will receive:

  • A specific research project with 1:1 mentorship from an ACEP researcher

  • Collaborative workspace at ACEP

  • On-campus housing

  • Travel to and from Fairbanks

  • Field trips related to energy in Alaska

Please fill out the interest survey to be included in application updates.

This program was developed by the Alaska Center for Energy and Power (ACEP) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

ACEP Undergraduate Summer Internship National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates

Which strand is right for me?

AUSI – ACEP Undergraduate Summer Internship

AUSI interns will devote the majority of their summer work to a research project with an ACEP mentor. Interns will meet with their mentors weekly, and the majority of projects give the opportunity for interns to work self-directed on their deliverables with low-to-medium support.

The AUSI strand is generously supported by a grant from the Office of Naval Research.

NSF REU – NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates

The NSF REU strand is a new exploratory research opportunity for students ready to embark on their first undergraduate summer research experience. NSF REU program activities will include a broader educational and professional experience to support the cohort in their research activities including Arctic Science Seminar Series, Teaching through Technology professional development, and a multi-day field trip.

The NSF REU strand is generously supported by the National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates program.
