Good news, John Green fans: his novel Looking For Alaska has been turned into a BBC Three series, and the release date is SOON.

If you were as obsessed with the adaptations of Paper Planes and The Fault In Our Stars as we were, you’ll be excited to hear another one of John Green’s heart wrenching novels has been picked up for TV. A new eight-part series, also named Looking For Alaska, will drop in full on BBC iPlayer on 19 October, after being created for Hulu viewers in the US.

Looking For Alaska follows teenager Miles ‘Pudge’ Halter (Charlie Plummer) as he trades in his sheltered upbringing for boarding school, in a bid to gain a deeper perspective on life. He falls in love with Alaska Young (Kristine Froseth) and finds a group of loyal friends, but after an unexpected tragedy, they must attempt to make sense of what they have been through.

Oh it’s SO good. Sue Deeks, Head of Programme Acquisition at the BBC, says: “Looking For Alaska is a really beautifully realised coming of age story. We are delighted to be premiering such a thought-provoking, humorous and poignant drama on BBC Three.”

Looking For Alaska was first released in 2005, and was John Green’s debut novel. It went on to sell millions of copies worldwide, making the author an international best seller and one of TIME Magazine’s 100 Best Young Adult Novels of All Time.

The adaptation stars a bunch of newcomers who you might not recognise yet: Kristine Froseth as Alaska and Charlie Plummer as Miles, as well as Empire’s Denny Love, Jay Lee, Landry Bender, Sofia Vassilieva and Uriah Shelton, who played Pratters in 13 Reasons Why.
