All Contiguous U.S. awards are based on travel within the Continental United States or between the Contiguous U.S. and Canada. The Contiguous U.S. includes the lower 48 states as well as the State of Alaska, unless otherwise specified.

Mixed-cabin itineraries are booked at the award level listed for the highest class of service of any included segment. For example, where one segment is in Main Cabin and another segment is in First Class, the number of miles required will correspond to a First Class itinerary, regardless of the relative duration of each segment.

Each award is subject to taxes and carrier-imposed fees starting from $5.60 per person, each way. These taxes and fees vary by itinerary and are based on trip origin and destination. The exact amount of taxes and carrier-imposed fees that will apply will appear when searching for a particular itinerary.

The ‘starting at’ amount represents the estimated minimum award prices on one or more of our partner airlines. We cannot guarantee available inventory at these award levels for your desired dates or itinerary.

Partner awards are subject to capacity controls.

Award flights with both an origin and destination outside of the US and Canada must be booked at least 72 hours before the departure time.

The purchaser of an award ticket is responsible for all applicable taxes, fees, and checked baggage charges imposed by the transporting carrier(s) or U.S. or international authorities. For itineraries that include one or more partner award segments, a $12.50 (USD) nonrefundable fee will be collected per person, each way.

Stopovers are not available on award redemptions within international regions (e.g. intra-Asia or Intra-Europe)

Carrier Imposed Charges:

• British Airways mandates a carrier-imposed charge, ranging from approximately $150 to over $1000 (USD), for all awards redeemed by Mileage Plan members.
• Hainan Airlines mandates a carrier-imposed charge, ranging from approximately $100 to over $750 (USD), for all awards redeemed by Mileage Plan members.
• Icelandair mandates a carrier-imposed charge, ranging from approximately $150 to over $300 (USD), for all awards redeemed by Mileage Plan members.

Ravn Alaska awards cannot be redeemed for travel between Fairbanks and Anchorage

One-way Korean Air award bookings are charged the same number of miles as round-trip travel. Korean Air flights, when used one-way in combination with Alaska Airlines or another partner airline to create a round-trip itinerary (routing restrictions apply).

Korean Air does not allow lap infants in Business Class. A full award must be redeemed for all passengers, including children under 24 months old.

Lap infant ticketing:

We are no longer able to guarantee that lap infants will be accepted with your international partner award ticket. Until further notice, Mileage Plan members will need to book seats for infants at the standard mileage rate on international partner award bookings. For travel wholly within the US, or wholly on Alaska Airlines, standard lap infant policies apply.
